Shadowrun 4 Book Cover

I’m helping plug a buddy of mine who has spent considerable time, effort, and risked his personal health to learn and subsequently write a Shadowrun character generator in Visual Basic. This guy makes me so envious that he can sit down, learn a prgramming language, and have a working program running in that language in a matter of a couple days. The bum just picked up some PHP with MySQL database backing just so he can better host his own program.

Anywho, I thought the more links to the program, the better, as its currently in beta and he needs lot of feedback to get this thing polished. I don’t play Shadowrun, so as far as game mechanics, I’m worthless to him, but I try my best to break the program. But, you, my fair reader, it’s very possible that you play SR, and would be a great value to him with his eternal gratitiude as your warm-fuzzy-feeling-inside payment. (That, and a FREE chargen that you can help mold).

I’m on XP and there’s an error at the splash screen.
It seems to be an error from the app:
“… encountered a problem and need to close…”

I’ll try it on Vista.

you need to install the .net framework in order of it to work on xp.

If you already have the .net framework installed, please send the complete error message to either http://www.dobberisms.com/comment.php
or the dumpshock official forum thread listed on the projects page at dobberisms.

i found some minor differences from the book to the generator… not too cerious… your fake sin f at rating 4 is off and your exceptional quality setup is of by 10 bp… other than that i love the thing and it chould be used by gamers everywhere for the offset chance of dying( which happens often in the game)

Thank you very much. My version of the book is older, and I just saw that the fake SIN availability was updated in the errata. The Exceptional attribute quality was just a plain mistake. Good catches.

These will both be fixed in the next update; until then you can modify your own data files to get immediate results.
(see \data files\legend.txt for more information)

Please submit any mistake tips as you find them.

Unfortunately, it does not play nice with WINE, so us Linux folks are out of luck.

ya. linux will have to wait until either WINE or mono get enough support for .net apps.

I think it would be better if we could imput knowledge skills manualy. There are so many options for knowledge skill it would be easy to input them manualy then for you to get a huge list of skills. thanks for the program.

Just found this, looks cool. i used to play shadowrun 2nd ed.
i just got shadowrun 4th ed. core book along with the arsenal and augmented books…….

how I can break the skill values limitations? ‘cos I need to use more than 5 in some skills but I can’t! I hope you can help me.
